International Women’s Day

Today is International Women’s Day. The UN says this is a day to both reflect upon the progress made and a call for action to further gender equality across the world. This year, International Women’s Day hopes to draw attention to the rights and activism of rural women in particular, where the global pay gap between men and women is often as high as 40 per cent. At RPM, we celebrate today the brilliant and powerful women who make up the refugees, volunteers and local community in Maastricht.
UNCHR will be doing a Facebook session live from Lebanon today, with Filippo Grandi, UN High Commissioner for Refugees and Henrietta H. Fore, Executive Director of UNICEF. They’ll be discussing how they are working to empower women refugees and you’ll be able to ask questions via the link and have them answered live.
